A Newer Bar You Need to Know About
Traditionally, Gladbrook, Iowa has been known for two things: The Matchstick Marvels Museum and the annual Corn Carnival. In our quest to bring the biker community the best biker-friendly businesses in the Midwest, we found another thing that the town should be known for: Savage Tavern.
The dual windows at the front of the bar provide great natural light during the day (the bar opens at 3:00 PM most days), and act as an invitation to those outside to come in and join the party at night. Tracy Savage, Owner of Savage Tavern, said that the bar stood vacant for about five years before they bought it. She, her husband Tony, and other family members poured their hearts into the remodel to make the bar a place where any thirsty soul would feel right at home… and it shows.
The first thing most people will notice as they walk through the door is the bright Harley-Davidson orange wall at the back of the bar. The wall is a love letter to Harley fans with a huge Harley logo, great vintage Harley-Davidson signs, end even a few customized motorcycle gas tanks atop the wall. The next thing thirsty riders will likely notice is the insanely unique custom bartop.
The Jaw-dropping Bar Top
This bar is unlike anything we’ve ever seen with a blue river-like light spilling through the epoxy finish, making even an ordinary bottle of beer look… epic. Each tabletop is also home to its own piece of custom flame-like epoxy-covered art that grabs your attention and makes guests want to check out other tables too… likely leading patrons to meet new people along the way.
This place has tons of little hidden pieces of eye candy that you really can’t find anywhere else that enhance the atmosphere for a truly memorable experience.
Also, check out those coasters! Eagle-eyed members of our biker community will recognize The Biker Lawyers’ signature coasters.
With a fully stocked beer selection, and all the customary bar foods (pizza, burgers, chips, candy bars, etc.), this is a must-stop for anyone cruising down Highway-14 and needing to make a pit stop. Savage also mentioned that the bar will soon get involved more in the local community through the Corn Carnival and plan to begin hosting regular events like darts, pool, and card tournaments.
Savage Tavern is already becoming known for being THE place for live music in the area, friendly bartenders who serve with a smile but won’t put up with B.S.
The owner told us about some of their future plans to make this the go-to place for a good time. “If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by! We’d love to show you a good time,” said the owner, “we plan on partnering with the local co-op to host some amazing outdoor bands behind the bar at some point in the future.”
A little bar with a big heart found in the heart of Gladbrook, Iowa, Savage Tavern is a great biker-friendly business that any rider should be sure to check out.
