    • What and Where: ADV Cannonball Rally – Starting in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, and concluding at the Portofino Hotel & Marina in Redondo Beach, California.
    • Overview: The ADV Cannonball Rally is a coast-to-coast motorcycle event emphasizing overland GPS navigation, endurance, preparedness, self-reliance, and rider skill. Participants navigate a meticulously curated route, earning points by reaching checkpoints on both paved and optional unpaved roads. The rally is designed to test riders’ abilities and resilience over approximately 3,000 to 3,500 miles.
    • What to Expect and How it Works:
      • Navigation: Riders utilize GPX tracks to follow the designated route, ensuring a balance between challenge and safety.
      • Checkpoints: Strategically placed at historic landmarks and scenic locations, checkpoints offer opportunities to earn points and explore notable sites.
      • Self-Reliance: The rally prohibits support crews or chase vehicles. Participants must rely on themselves and commonly available resources, such as local motorcycle shops or services like AAA. Unsportsmanlike conduct, such as seeking personal assistance beyond these means, may result in point deductions or disqualification.
      • Scoring: Points are awarded based on checkpoint arrivals, with additional points for special achievements and extreme checkpoints revealed during the event. The rider with the highest point total at the end of the rally is declared the winner.
    • Eligibility: Open to all riders with any street-legal motorcycle. There are no handicapping calculations or motorcycle classes, promoting inclusivity and diversity among participants.
    • Registration: Limited to 30 riders to maintain an intimate and manageable event size. Interested participants are encouraged to register early to secure a spot. The registration fee is $500 and covers the cost of hotels.
    • Additional Information: Each year’s route varies, with the “coast-to-coast” concept creatively interpreted to offer new challenges and experiences. The 2025 route has been meticulously planned to provide an optimal adventure motorcycling experience, combining challenging terrains with breathtaking scenery.
