Cedar Rapids Best Venue for Live Music and karaoke.

Rumors Bar and Grill is one of the places that I normally go for live music.

They have rented out their kitchen to independent business owners for the last few years.  I got used to the fact that they have above-average food there, so I decided to go there today when I was in the mood for good chicken.

When I got there, I found out that a new person had taken over the kitchen very recently.  The new food business inside Rumors is called Uncle P’s, and I decided to give it a try.  I ordered a burger that he calls “The Uncle P” and some cod nuggets.  After tasting some of his food, I can assure you that Uncle P’s does not disappoint.

The “Uncle P” Burger

The “Uncle P” burger has bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion, tater tots, and Uncle P’s sauce.  It also has a pretzel-style bun which appears to be of very good quality.

All his burgers are made from fresh meat, and after talking to him, I discovered that most of his food is made from scratch.  Very few items are brought in frozen from a supplier.  This burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly, so it had a really good flavor.  I have tried a lot of burgers in the Cedar Rapids area, and I have to say that this one ranks very highly in comparison to the others.

The Cod Nuggets

I don’t normally eat any kind of fish, but he said that his cod nuggets were really good.  I agreed to try some, and I figured if nothing else, I could get a picture of them.  Since I’m not a fish expert, I can’t tell you a whole lot about these cod nuggets other than they tasted fresh.  I didn’t notice any fishy smell or taste, and nothing was slimy or off in any way about the texture.  They seemed to have a good flavor, so with my very limited experience with fish, I would have to say that these were top-notch.

Rumors Live Music

I personally go to Rumors a lot during the winter, because they always have some kind of live music or karaoke going on.  It’s a pretty laid-back crowd, and I usually run across a few other people that I know.  They have dart tournaments, bags, card games, and other types of entertainment as well.  Every Sunday, the local musicians gather at Rumors and have a jam session in the afternoon.  The fact that their food is uncommonly good for a local bar gives me yet another incentive to go to Rumors when I am in need of entertainment.

A note from Will Carter, The Ambassador of Flavors:

“This is one of many biker bar reviews I will be doing on a weekly basis.  The goal is to promote local bars as destinations for motorcycle enthusiasts.  These reviews will be part of an online resource created to help bikers find bars with good food and entertainment.”
