Lucky’s on 16th
The Ambassador of Flavors Biker Food Review
Lucky’s on 16th is one of the most popular spots in Cedar Rapids for breakfast. It’s a small neighborhood bar located in Czech Village. Czech Village is almost like a small town nestled inside Cedar Rapids.
[Czech Village] has lots of local shops inside some historic old buildings, and it’s just a cool place to check out.
Lucky’s Famous Burgers and Mac & Cheese
I learned not long ago, that Lucky’s had started making their burgers in-house, rather than buying pre-made patties. I have been wanting to try one for a while now, so today was the day.
They are also known for their mac and cheese. I have had the buffalo chicken kind before, so I wanted to try something different this time. I ended up getting the fiesta mac and cheese, and it turned out to be very good.
In-House Burgers Beat Pre-Made Any Day
I have been using Montreal steak seasoning on my grilled hamburgers for years now, and I was happy to find out that Lucky’s uses the same kind of seasoning.
I’m always very unhappy when I bite into a burger with no seasoning, but Lucky’s really impressed me with their burger today. Another thing I look for is a good quality bun. Unfortunately, I have had some really bad buns that ruined an otherwise great burger. Lucky’s did a really good job picking the right bun for this burger, and they buttered and grilled it like it should be.
Build-Your-Own Mac & Cheese
A lot of bars around here have pizza or broasted chicken, but Lucky’s decided to be different. They came up with a build-your-own mac and cheese concept that has really worked well for them.
I appreciate being able to choose something different than what every other bar in town has, and Lucky’s really excels at mac and cheese. They have more options for mac and cheese toppings than most places have for pizza toppings.
The Fiesta Mac & Cheese
If you don’t want to work too hard, they also have a speed dial mac and cheese menu. I got the #2, which is fiesta mac and cheese. It has taco meat, onions, green chilies, red peppers, black olives, jalapeno peppers, and pepper jack cheese. It’s a lot like eating hamburger helper, but everything is fresher and better quality.
“I tried the buffalo chicken mac and cheese last time, and I can also recommend that one as being a great option.”
My best advice on the mac and cheese is to pick your toppings based on whatever you like or don’t like as well as your personal spice tolerance level. The buffalo chicken and the fiesta mac and cheese were perfect for me, but if you don’t like spicy food at all, you should probably pick things with no peppers and hot sauce.
Since Lucky’s is so popular around here as a breakfast spot, I can’t go without mentioning their pancakes. They have some really huge pancakes that are made from scratch. If you want breakfast any time of day, Lucky’s will hook you up.

“This is one of many biker bar reviews I will be doing on a weekly basis. The goal is to promote local bars as destinations for motorcycle enthusiasts. These reviews will be part of an online resource created to help bikers find bars with good food and entertainment.”
