Bobber’s Grill: Finger-lickin’ food and great live country music

I went down to Bobber’s in North Liberty, Iowa today.  Why did I pick today?  Because the band 8 Seconds was going to be there, and I’m a big fan of live country music.  I think I picked the hottest day of the summer because I’m not used to this kind of heat in Iowa when I’m listening to a band outside.  Down South was a different story, and that’s one of the biggest reasons I left.

I asked the security guy what kind of food was best, and he suggested the burgers.  There was already a crowd there, and I got there a few hours before the band started.  He told me I should go ahead and order food before a bigger crowd got there.  Apparently, the wait times can get really long once the place gets packed.

I decided to order the BBQ bacon burger, and I also got a standard cheeseburger so I could see and taste the meat without the BBQ sauce.

The BBQ burger vs the cheeseburger

The BBQ burger has a house-made honey BBQ sauce, applewood bacon, and melted cheddar.  The patty itself was pretty standard for what you find at bars around here, and it was properly cooked and seasoned.

“If burgers are your thing, you would most likely be happy with any of the options here.” – Will Carter, The Biker’s Ambassador of Flavors

I also saw some people with thin crust pizza at their tables.  It looked a lot like a typical thin crust pizza from a local bar, so that would be another good option for food when you come here.

Bobbers cod nuggets

The people sitting next to me had some catfish and cod nuggets.  I haven’t really seen a lot of places around here with catfish on the menu, but I have seen people on Facebook asking where to get some catfish.  If you happen to be one of the people who is looking for catfish, you might want to try it at Bobbers.  It looked pretty good.

The Party Scene at Bobbers

I met some pretty interesting people here, and I found out that there’s quite the party crowd here.  Live music is a regular occurrence, and there’s plenty of room to dance and have fun.  They have live music just about every weekend during the summer.  The exact schedule is on their website, so go check it out and find out which bands you want to see in person.

This place is right next to boat ramps, slips, RV pads, and a huge body of water.  There’s a playground and volleyball court with plenty of sand to play in right next to the bar.  I noticed quite a few kids having fun out in this area.

Bobbers unique decor

The décor is one of the most fun things about Bobbers.  I love anything to do with water, being next to the water, or marinas in general.  I like boats too.  Somebody even painted all the shades on the pendant lamps to look like fishing bobbers.  For at least a few hours, this place can actually make you forget that you are living in the middle of the world’s largest cornfield.

They have a little store inside where you can buy t-shirts and other things to remember your trip here.  The store also sells camping and boating supplies, just in case you forgot something that you really needed.

The fun doesn’t end at Bobber’s when summer is over, because they just turn the place into a big tailgate party for the Iowa football games.  Since it’s a bar and an RV park combined, it really makes the perfect place to extend all the football-related partying away from the campus area.

A note from Will Carter, The Ambassador of Flavors:

“This is one of many biker bar motorcycle-friendly restaurant reviews I will do on a weekly basis.  The goal is to promote local bars as destinations for motorcycle enthusiasts.  These reviews are part of an online resource created to help bikers find bars with good food and entertainment.”
