Iowa City local killed in motorcycle accident

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa has reported that an Iowa City resident lost his life on Friday, November 6 at around 11:01 p.m. after the motorcycle he was driving crashed at 3053 Rohret Road SW in Iowa City, Iowa.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old I-An Liang.

Liang had been heading east of Rohret Road on a motorcycle when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.

According to Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek, Liang had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Liang’s passenger, who was yet to be identified publicly by police authorities and who was wearing a helmet during the accident, was transported to a nearby hospital to for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains a mystery to authorities, who are still investigating the situation in an attempt to determine what happened.

Minnesota motorcycle accident kills Davenport couple

A motorcycle accident near Jackson, Minnesota resulted in the death of a couple from Davenport on June 22, according to a KWQC article.

The couple, identified as 67-year-old Richard Hedeen and 66-year-old Francoise Hedeen, were riding down Interstate 90 at around 6:30 p.m. when the crash occurred.

According to the preliminary investigations made by the Minnesota State Patrol, Richard Hedeen, who was driving the motorcycle, was headed west along the highway when for some unknown reason he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to traverse the center line in a construction zone near mile post 74. The motorcycle then collided with a minivan that was heading east along the same highway.

The couple on the motorcycle were both killed in the accident. The driver of the minivan was brought to a nearby local hospital for the treatment of his minor wounds. Three underage passengers were also safely brought out of the vehicle after the accident. They were apparently unharmed in the collision.

Clinton car-motorcycle collision kills one

A collision between a car and a motorcycle in the 1100 block of S. 14th Street in Clinton, Iowa resulted in the death of motorcyclist Justin Kane, 36, the QC Times reported on April 2.

The fatal motorcycle accident occurred at around 4:50 when Kane, heading south, collided with the side rear door of a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier operated by 70-year-old local Diane Soesbe. Soesbe was moving to exit the business drive of Ascenta Credit Union when the accident happened.

Both drivers were taken to Mercy Medical Center by the Clinton Fire Department, where Kane later succumbed to his mortal injuries.

Further investigations into the details surrounding the accident are being undertaken by the Clinton Police Department’s Traffic Crash Investigation Division. No fault was assigned in the article.

Culprit arrested in fatal hit and run motorcycle accident

Forty-seven-year-old Mason City, Iowa resident Victor Rivera hit a motorcycle and left the scene of the accident along Highway 122 and South Pierce Avenue on November 22, causing the death of one person and injury of another, KIMT reported.

The motorcycle victims were identified as Mason City resident Jefferson Davis, Sr., and Nicole Shariff, who were the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, respectively. They were taken to North Iowa Mercy Health Center by the Mason City Fire Department.

According to the local authorities, Davis succumbed to his mortal injuries at the hospital, while Shariff was reported to be in fair condition.

Rivera’s vehicle was pursued until the 1500 block of North Madison, where he was then arrested on five valid warrants from Cerro Gordo County. The warrants included charges for aggravated domestic assault, failure to appear (FTA) going armed with intent, FTA burglary first degree, FTA disorderly conduct, and FTA interference with official acts.

Motorcyclist killed in North Liberty truck collision

The North Liberty Police Department in Iowa reported that 57-year-old Swisher resident Ronald Carson died at a local hospital from mortal injuries he sustained after a collision between his motorcycle and a truck, The Gazette reported on October 28.

According to local authorities, the accident happened at the intersection of Penn Street and Nathan Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. James Steinfadt and Vicki Meskimem, driver and passenger of another motorcycle traveling behind Carson, swerved to avoid an additional collision. They both sustained minor injuries.

Carson’s passenger, Jane, is currently confined at a local hospital, although authorities have yet to publicly announce her condition.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck, 36-year-old North Liberty local Michael Werle, was not hurt during the crash. The investigation had not yet concluded at the time of the article, although Werle was charged with the failure to yield during a left turn.
