The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa has reported that an Iowa City resident lost his life on Friday, November 6 at around 11:01 p.m. after the motorcycle he was driving crashed at 3053 Rohret Road SW in Iowa City, Iowa.
The victim was identified as 26-year-old I-An Liang.
Liang had been heading east of Rohret Road on a motorcycle when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch. He was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where he succumbed to his fatal injuries.
According to Sheriff Lonny Pulkrabek, Liang had not been wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Liang’s passenger, who was yet to be identified publicly by police authorities and who was wearing a helmet during the accident, was transported to a nearby hospital to for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains a mystery to authorities, who are still investigating the situation in an attempt to determine what happened.
