Minnesota man dies after colliding with deputy’s squad car in Iowa

Fifty-five-year-old Breckenridge, Minnesota motorcyclist Laverne Schweertman sustained injuries of an unknown nature and was hospitalized after colliding with Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office deputy Josh Roberts in Spirit Lake, Iowa on August 8, the Sioux City Journal reported.

Schweertman was heading east in the westbound lane when he came into contact with the passenger-side door of a squad car east of Spirit Lake at around 2 a.m. He was brought to the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls for the treatment of his wounds. Iowa State Patrol is currently launching an investigation into the incident, trying to discover the circumstances that may have caused the motorcycle accident.

Because of the inherent lack of physical protection, motorcyclists are at greater risk for serious injury in the event of an accident. If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident due to the negligence or reckless driving of someone else, the legal team at the The Biker Lawyers, may help you pursue the funds you need to recover.
