Not Your Typical Motorcycle-Friendly Bar Food…

I live about thirty minutes from Anamosa, so during the four years that I have been in Cedar Rapids, I have driven past Scooter’s Bar and Grill many times. I always assumed it would just be typical bar food, so I never made a point to stop and try any of it. Since I’m doing all these biker food reviews now, it just made sense to go see what was inside the place.

As soon as I started talking to the bartender about food, I was amazed to find out that almost none of it comes frozen from a supplier. They have a huge selection of burgers, and all the meat is prepared in-house. I think she said they even make their own roast beef.

At this point, I was very impressed, so I ordered a cowboy burger and some traditional wings with buffalo sauce.

The Burgers

The cowboy burger has crunchy fried onions on top of the meat, along with bacon, cheddar cheese, and what they call cowboy sauce.

The burger itself was made out of some fresh ground beef, and it was still juicy when I got it. The meat had a good flavor too, so I’m sure you will enjoy whatever variation of burger you happen to pick.

“I counted at least 12 variations of burgers on their menu, so I’m sure you will find one with the right ingredients to satisfy your hunger.” – Will Carter, The Ambassador of Flavors

The Wings Flavor Test

I got their traditional wings, which just means bone-in. They also have boneless wings, if you would rather have something that’s a little less work to eat. When I get chicken, I always want to make sure that there is flavor all the way through the meat, and these wings passed that test.

The buffalo sauce itself is just on the outside, and it tasted exactly like buffalo hot sauce should taste. I also want my chicken to be juicy and tender. Scooters did a good job on these, so I was very happy that I didn’t end up having to eat tough, dried-out chicken.

A Motorcycle-Friendly Location and Venue

When you go to Scooter’s, you are definitely in biker territory. Right down the road, at the next exit, is the National Motorcycle Museum. A little further down the road, you will find J&P Cycles.

Scooter’s has plenty of parking for cars and motorcycles, so it doesn’t matter how many friends you bring, or what kind of ride you came in.

f you happen to like eating outside when the weather is warm, they have a huge patio at the end of the building.

There’s also a stage inside for live music, along with a pool table and other bar games.

A note from Will Carter, The Ambassador of Flavors

“This is one of many biker food reviews I will be doing on a weekly basis.  The goal is to promote local bars as destinations for motorcycle enthusiasts.  These reviews will be part of an online resource created to help bikers find bars with good food and entertainment.”
