Grundy County motorcycle crash claims one life

A motorcycle accident that occurred along Highway 20 about three miles east of Dike in Grundy County, Iowa claimed the life of one individual and caused injuries to another. The accident happened on Thursday, August 4 at approximately 3:51 p.m.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Huntington, Indiana resident Roxanne Covey, who died as a result of her injuries on Saturday, August 6. According to preliminary investigations made by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Roxanne Covey and 46-year-old Al Dwayne Covey, also of Huntington, were riding along the highway when it veered off the roadway and fell into a ditch. The departure from the road caused the Coveys to be ejected from the bike.

Roxanne Covey was transported to an area hospital while Al Covey was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Police said they are conducting further investigations into the incident to find out what caused the accident in the first place.
