Charges have yet to be filed against 47-year-old Mason City, Iowa resident Victor Rivera regarding a hit-and-run motorcycle accident that occurred on Nov. 22 at the intersection of 4th Street Southwest and South Pierce Avenue, although court records have revealed that the investigation in the case is still developing, KIMT reported on December 9.
Mason police obtained warrants to search the Ford F-150 they believe Rivera was driving at the night of the accident; a warrant was also granted to search the Verizon cellular phone Rivera possessed.
Forty-three-year-old Jefferson Davis, who was driving a motorcycle, perished due to the extent of the injuries he sustained when Rivera’s pickup truck allegedly hit him. His passenger, on the other hand, spent time with critical injuries in the hospital.
Police authorities said Rivera left the scene of the accident but was captured not long after several blocks away.
He is currently imprisoned in the Cerro Gordo County Jail over charges not relating to the incident.
