Troopers from the Iowa State Patrol reported that 65-year-old Madison, Wisconsin resident Anne Grady has been critically injured after being involved in a four-vehicle crash near Sheffield, Iowa at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65 and south of 240th Street in Franklin County on August 27 .
Grady had to be taken via helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Mason City because of severe injuries.
The Iowa State Patrol said the vehicles involved in the accident included Minnesota resident John Stier’s trailer, the sport utility vehicle that was operated by Grady, the pickup operated by 36-year-old Iowa Falls local Matthew Schlacter, and the Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by 63-year-old Hampton resident Von Aaron.
According to early police investigations, Schlacter’s pickup caused the collision when Schlacter failed to manage his vehicle and lost control of it, hitting the other vehicles.
