I-29 construction contributed to motorcycle crash

An unidentified motorcycle driver was severely wounded in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 29 in Sioux City and is due to soon undergo surgery for treatment, the Sioux City Journal reported on July 30.

According to Sioux City Police’s Lieutenant Mark Kirpatrick’s preliminary investigations, the driver of the motorcycle lost control over his bike as traffic slowed in a construction zone. Vehicles must merge and slow down in this area due to extensive construction, and although officials are concerned with improving the safety of the highway, there is limited space to work with.

Investigators continue to assess the case and whether any other parties were involved.
