An Iowa State Patrol accident report showed that 56-year-old Clearmont, Missouri resident George Peter lost his life when he drove his 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle into the intersection of Lake Road and Highway 2, causing a collision with a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser on Saturday, June 4.
According to preliminary investigations, Peter was headed north on Lake Road behind a group of motorcycles. Before the intersection, the other motorcyclists stopped at a stop sign, but Peter did not stop and collided with the Chrysler that was headed west and driven by 71-year-old Bedford, Iowa resident Sandra Wakefield. Wakefield sustained minor injuries during the accident and was brought to a hospital in Maryville, Missouri. Reports state that Wakefield was wearing her seat belt.
